Building confidence, articulation and poise in youth through the arts.
KATCH – Kutztown Arts & Theatre for CHildren, established in 2011, is a non-biased, community-based center for visual and performing arts focusing on youth in the Kutztown and surrounding areas through varied experiences in the arts, opportunities for personal growth and perfecting of skills to each individual’s peak. KATCH will support the local creative and performing arts youth talent to enhance a positive platform, bringing confidence and good role modeling to the youth by sharing talents with the community. Mentors shall be paired with youth to introduce and/or further the individual’s understanding of artistic disciplines, including dramatic, theatrical, vocal and instrumental performance and basic visual arts with the ability to add artistic disciplines as mentors become available and members interested. KATCH will focus on the core principles of educating, working toward goal completion, and confidence building. Theatrical members will work through personal and/or group presentations for possible performances at community events and festivals as well as KATCH showcases and theatrical performances throughout the year. Visual Art members will work on completion of one or more pieces in one or more mediums for possible showing in community venues, festivals or during KATCH Showcases. KATCH is member driven. The creativity and imagination of its members will be a source for performances and overall program growth.
KATCH not only wants to create a community of respectful, confident youth, but also youth who see the value in their communities. KATCH hopes to participate in raising the awareness of needs in the community through philanthropic opportunities given to our performers where they may utilize their skills, time and talent to bring about change.
